But you don't care what happened to me yesterday, right? (well, hell you probably don't give much of a flying monkey turd on a cracker about what I'm up today either, but a guy can hope!)
So anyway, taking a lesson from the Beatles I'll try to keep the 'yesterday's' to a bare minimum. BUT--since nothing's happening yet today--and I'm here...lemme tell you real quick what treat I got to see last wednesday.
I'm driving to work, and there's nothing between me and the sun but a thin sliver of the frozen lake. And lo and behold I'm introduced to a new astronomical phenomena.
"hello astronomical phenomena!"
"I'm a Sun Pillar son"
Here's some examples--apparently I got to see the rarest kind--a CLEAR AIR sun pillar, where the bottom third of its visual height was over open air with no backdrop of clouds. I seriously thought I was hallucinating for a good 30 seconds. AND, I nearly caused several accidents rubbernecking to see this thing. I don't even go that hardcore for pretty girls. 'Course, hot girls are seldom standing still to your relative motion and an apparent 300 feet tall.
A little one--'nother clear air kind
And a picture of the ACTUAL sun pillar I saw--albeit much less cool than the view I had
Last--but most. The coolest actual image I can find of the event.
I can't tell you how awesome it is--you're in the rat race. It sounds blase to say, but it's a rare treat to have something this spectacular to look up at. I hope that even almost a week later; and moderated by your monitor, that this event touches you where you are.
